It's that time of year again.....

Nights getting darker, days getting colder and wetter, Summer giving way to Autumn....they all signal one thing.....finally, the start of the hockey league season.

After a long summer spent playing in non hockey weather we've finally made it to the start of the 2022/23 league season and everybody is raring to go at our new home pitch! After a bit of a shuffle within the leagues again the mens 1s & 2s are ready to get going for the first ever time within the same division. The 1s get underway with a home fixture against Preston 6 and the 2s make the trip to Preston to take on their 7s, both games starting at the conveniently early time of 11:30am given the small matter of the Super League Grand Final later in the day.

The 2s this season will be captained once again by Lucas Delanchy, whilst after a number of seasons in charge Lewis Robinson has been succeeded as club and 1st team Captain by Adam 'Util' Griffiths (pictured). We thank Lewis for his time and effort over the last few seasons and congratulate Adam on the new role!

Both teams this season are hoping to see the benefits of playing in a league closer to home and not having the concerns over player availability. Boosted by new faces and the prospect of younger players continuing to develop we're all hoping for a successful and most importantly enjoyable season.

Next week we have the small matter of 1s vs 2s and the ladies taking centre stage, but more on that during next week.

Good Luck for the coming season everybody! (And remember, we now play at Sutton Leisure!)
